PHASE II REG 8 Changes Updates

As time passes, and technology approves, we as members and primarily as the board want to ensure that the Association utilizes these advances.  We are currently reviewing and gathering input on the changes that the State wants to make during Phase II of the Reg 8 Update.

Our legislative committee has met with the State twice now during Stakeholder Workshops, and specifically requested our input on several key issues. Members of the Association, Board and Legislative Committee have committed to providing some suggested language and/or guidelines for specific items.  We although represent the Association specifically, we have and always will do what is best for the industry at large.  We have many opportunities to support the State in its efforts to increase awareness, improve integrity in the industry, and ensure public health and safety.

Recently we agreed with the state that a delay of proceedings needed to occur and we joined them in requested a request for hearing in October of 2010 instead of January 2010.  This gives us the time we need to work together and complete the issues at hand.

For the first time in Association history we were able to utilize Audio Conferencing so that the Legislative Committee and the Phase II Committee members could join together from different parts of the state to discuss and review subjects that the members of the Association have expressed interest and concern.

Much of the subjects were a direct result of the ongoing communications we have had with the state through the "100 questions". (These questions are available for review on the State's website.)  We have a committment from the State to work on the 100 questions, which with some clarity is treated the same as a policy statement.  Clarity made through the 100 questions is for the entire industry and spells out in more detail how the Division has come to agreement regarding specific language already existing in the Regulation.

IT'S AN ELECTION YEAR

As most of you are aware, we elect board members every two years.  And this year is an election year.  Officers will be elected to the board of directors and if you have specific nominations, or would like to participate in the board, please let us know your interest.  We have a deadline coming up in October, so there is plenty of time to consider nominees for the Officers.

All positions will be voted on, including:

President (Current: Guy Leidolph), Vice President (Current: Tom Norman), Treasurer (Current: Sean Helton), Membership Committee Chairperson (Dasha Carper), Associate Member President  (Current: Dasha Carper), Legislative Chairperson (Lennie Herron)

Any current Board Member may be elected to an officer position, as well as General Members.  Associate Members are the only members who may be elected to the position of Associate Member President.  If you have any questions regarding this process, or the different Officers, please do not hesitate to contact us, cepainfo@onekate.com
